Can you get a new licence after revocation?

Often yes, but the waiting period and requirements depend on the reason for revocation and the final order.

After revocation, you may obtain a new licence only when the conditions for that reason are met. Article 219 sets periods and procedures that are not the same in every case; some violations have specific waiting periods. Read the final order and ask the Motorizzazione when you may apply for a new licence.

Revocation ends the existing entitlement

Revocation is not a temporary suspension: the measure terminates the previous driving entitlement. Article 219 identifies the competent authority and provides that, in cases covered by the rule, the holder cannot obtain a new licence until the period set by the final order has elapsed. Different periods may apply to particular violations, including specified cases involving alcohol or substances.

There is no single expiry date for every revocation. The reason, rule cited, finality of the order and any medical or technical requirements affect the route. Do not confuse the date when you handed over the card with the date from which a waiting period begins under law.

Before applying for a new licence

Read the full order, check whether it is final and identify the provision that states when you may request a new entitlement. Then ask the Motorizzazione which requirements, medical visits or tests apply. If revocation relates to health conditions, further assessment may be needed; if it follows a violation, the rule for that particular case governs.

For example, a revocation connected with a violation is not a simple suspension where the old card is returned after a few days. Waiting for a general period found online does not replace checking the order. If the date or reason is unclear, ask the competent office for written clarification before enrolling or driving.
